The South Charleston Sanitary Board issues a permit for sewer work. The application can be obtained in our SCSB office or downloaded below.

1. Customer makes application at office, Pays required fees and receives receipt
2. If a commercial/industrial facility or subdivision a copy of plans for the facility must be included with the application.
3. Manager or designee reviews application, verifies location of line/tap, availability of sewer service. If industrial or heavy commercial, the Pretreatment Coordinator is to be consulted. If a subdivision, the engineering department at the city should be consulted if within the city limits.
4. Tap permit is either issued or denied. If the application is denied you will be told why and how to re-apply. If application is issued owner instructed not to cover their construction until inspected by the Sanitary Board.
5. A South Charleston Sanitary Board personnel inspects owners construction, sketches location of tap and service lateral to be included in mapping.
6. Sanitary Board constructs Tap.
Note:
To schedule your Sewer Inspection please notify the SCSB at (304) 768-4140, at least twenty-four (24) hours in advance. Please place calls between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. When calling in, the following information must be given: Property location, owner’s name, Plumber or Contractor’s name, and Caller’s name and phone number. No sewer line is to be backfilled until all the sewer work is inspected.
A Sewer Capping Permit is required when a lot is to be developed has an existing building which is to be removed or demolished; the capping of the side sewer must be made and inspected prior to any further work on the site. The fee for capping the sewer is $25.00. Fill out the following application on screen by clicking and typing in each field.

Print out and sign the application. The application can be brought to the South Charleston Sanitary Board at the following address:
